Let the Games Begin!
Wed, 22 Jun 2011
The Opening Ceremony of the NatWest Island Games XIV in the Isle of Wight will take place on Saturday 25th June. Once the Games have been formally opened by Lord Sebastian Coe we will all look forward to an intense week of sporting competition and friendship. Competitors from all 24 Member Islands will meet on a beautiful island famous for its hospitality.
The Inter-Island Games (as it was called then) started in 1985 in the Isle of Man and has since developed into a major sporting event for islanders from all over the world. We help to develop the Games sports and competitors within our island but even more importantly we bring our islands together in friendship.
