The Bermuda Games is getting closer and Greenland is ready!
Tue, 18 Dec 2012
The run-up to NatWest Island Games in Bermuda 2013 has already started! Our Islanders are in training and the team administrators are in serious planning for the trip across the Atlantic.
One of our Islands that will, with true sportsmanship and compassion, contribute tremendously to the success of the 2013 NatWest Island Games is Greenland; the world’s largest island and also one of the most remote. They have taken part in their “usual sports” i.e. football, volleyball, athletics, badminton and table tennis over the years since they joined the Games Family in 1989. But for 2013 they have decided to expand their participation and include triathlon, golf and clay/skeet shooting for the first time. They will send 2 competitors in each of these additional sports - taking the total team to 85 athletes.
I believe it is great to try new sports and encourage them to flourish within the NatWest Island Games membership. The main aims and objectives of the International Island Games Association are to develop sport within our member islands. In this Greenland is a great role model!
The deadline for submitting your initial entries for the NatWest Island Games 2013 is 13th January 2013. Please remember to comply with this deadline – it is very important.
Please also enjoy the Christmas holiday and have a great new year!
