New guys on the job!

The International Island Games Association since it’s formation in 1985 has developed slowly but steadily. Members within the Executive Committee have come and gone, all leaving their contribution to the never ending construction site which is the NatWest Island Games. A few weeks ago we reported that out beloved, appreciated and longstanding General Secretary Kay Batty retired leaving an empty place in the office. That has now been taken care of. The new General Secretary is Andy Varnom who has served as a member of the IIGA Executive Committee since 2007, attended every NatWest Island Games since 1999 and was Deputy Director for the 2001 NatWest Island Games hosted by the Isle of Man.
When he became General Secretary he had to leave the Executive Committee and following a decision at the AGM in Jersey last summer a new member has now been appointed. His name is Paul Scope from Bermuda and he was a member of the Organising Committee for the NatWest Island Games in 2013. Paul has a vast experience of international business as an insurance broker and has a dedicated passion for all sports, especially football. He is the owner of the franchise for the Bermuda Hogges, the only professional football club in Bermuda.
With these two sporting enthusiasts on board the IIGA is prepared for the forthcoming challenges and, most important of all, the NatWest Island Games in Jersey 2015! Welcome Andy and Paul, we are looking forward to working with you and hope you will have a nice stay!
