On-line Swimming Courses in Orkney

Despite COVID-19 lockdown restrictions and curent pool closures, a total of 11 coaches from Orkney Swimming Club have had the opportunity to study for SQA Coaching Swimming courses during this time. The classroom and theory work of a Level 2 Coaching Swimming Course has now been completed, with a Level 1 Coaching Swimming Course due to start on Monday 21st September. Both courses are being delivered by highly qualified Scottish Swimming tutors in an online classroom format, with trainee coaches from all over Scotland attending. The poolside work will be completed when that becomes possible in the months ahead.
The club is grateful to SportScotland, The NatWest International Sports Development Fund, the Repsol-Sinopec small grant scheme (administered by Voluntary Action Orkney), community councils, and donations from “Friends of Orkney Swimming” for financial support for these courses. Thanks also to the tutors and to Scottish Swimming staff for pulling this together in record time in response to demand from across the country for online courses during pool closures.
