NatWest International Coaching Development Programme
Aim: Increase the number of qualified coaches and improve standards of coaching within the Islands.
Applications must be received by the IIGA General Secretary one month prior to the event to be supported taking place.
Categories of Grant
- Island based certificated coaching course
- Island based non-certificated coaching visit
- Coaching grants to individuals/advanced coaching course
Criteria for each type of grant

The sport must be a NatWest International Island Games Sport.
Category 1, 2 & 3 -
Coach education courses should form part of an agreed development plan for the sport.
Category 1, 2 & 3 -
Island based courses should be open to a maximum number of people.
Category 1 & 2 -
Coaching visits should include sessions for school groups.
Category 1 & 2 -
Local organisers should be responsible for accommodating course tutors (in order to reduce costs).
Category 1 & 2 -
Coaching Courses must lead to a National Governing Body recognised' qualification.
Category 1 & 3 -
Course participants should already be or intend to be coaching an Island group.
Category 1 & 3 -
Course participants should pay a minimum 50% towards course fees.
Category 1 -
Coaching grants to individuals must be submitted and endorsed by the parent association.
Category 3 -
Courses should be at the nearest venue to the Island where practicable.

Up to 50% of actual travel, accommodation and course fees for individuals attending advanced coaching courses which cannot take place on own island.
If it is necessary to 'import' a qualified coach in order to proceed with a scheme this coach should also be utilised to carry out a basic coaches course leading to a recognised qualification for islanders.
